What has changed since last season?
|
We are in serious shit, make no mistake. We have zero confidence and are playing like a relegated team already. I really hope Bilic can turn things around because I think he is the right man for us, but this thread isn't about that and at the end of the day I support the club not players or managers.
Last season we were magnificent, and really deserved a top 6 finish at least, but for several key decisions going against us. What is so different this season?
It can't just be the new stadium. We weren't playing there against Chelsea and West Brom. And last season the Boleyn Ground had nothing to do with our wins against Arsenal, Liverpool and Man City. What has changed and how do we get it back?

I think it's partly to do with the new ground and despite me thinking the ground is shit I still think we would of struggled to get use to it even if we had moved into a world class football stadium as it does take time adapt.
The smaller pitch at UP suited the likes of Noble, Collins and some of the others but now they have not got the legs to cope with the larger spaces it seems.
We relied heavily on Payet & Lanzini last season to provide assists and score goals because we were conceding goals but this season they are not performing to their normal standards and yet we are still conceding goals so we are worse off.
Finally it seems nearly all the teams in the premiership have improved their team's this season while all our signings have been shit thus far and that combined with mainstays like Noble, Collins, Reid, Lanzini, Payet & Kouyate underperforming means we are in the shit.
Other than that I think we are fine!

Looks to me like they no longer want to play for bilic, the stadium is not the problem as we've been just as bad away from home, there's a serious problem at the club, maybe Sakho is the first to speak out or is the only player to stand up to Slav, for someone who failed a medical on fitness, he's not even training by the sound of it.

New ground - We can't train there and only use it on match days so pretty much the same as the opposition so home advantage is lost, add onto this the fan situation and pressure then it becomes more in the oppositions favour.
New training facilities, we made too many changes at once.
Shit transfer window, usual loans and journeymen, if we'd bought a marque sigining it could have made a difference.
Conclusion = Its the same old West Ham, promise the world but deliver a day out in Scunthorpe!

Not enough quality brought in, too many foreign players who were panic buys .
Injuries to big players and a new stadium not because of it or the atmosphere but it is new surroundings have made things difficult oh Training change of place too has not helped.
I guess put simply some of the players are not as good as they should be.

8 of today's starters were playing last season
What's different?
lost our home and play in a non football stadium.
Bought a load of average players to increase squad for Europe but fucked that up. So have to fit in a load of new players that add nothing.

"8 of today's starters were playing last season"
Exactly. What has happened to Adrian, Reid, Ogbonna, Noble, Payet, Kouyate and Lanzini? I won't add Antonio as he's the only one who has been performing to a decent level.

Last season we were not the same BFS West Ham and inspired by Payet I feel many opponents especially the so called top sides underestimated us, as the season progressed teams clearly had started to look to counter us but we had so much confidence through our good start we could equally react in a confident way in matches.
After a poor summer in the transfer market that failed to capitalise on the positives of last season and along with a terrible pre-season the confidence has now gone and as more opponents focus on our weaknesses we simply are no longer able to counter them and are quickly becoming this season's Aston Villa.

Bilic falling out with Sakho started the ball rolling downhill. Even if Sakho is a loon he's still the best forward at the club and I'm sure the squad think that too. Selling James Tomkins can't have helped the collective spirit and then him not having the rigidity to stick with his decision to play Antonio as an attackong right back, whether he was right or wrong, has weakened his position. Factor in all the other negatives re the stadium and we're staring down the barrel of a big fuck off navarone type gun. Unless we get bought out by some stupidly rich owners man city style I fear we'll never be the same club. A total fuck up on the face of it so far.

Pitch too big therefore needing faster thinking and faster moving players
Therefore not ours

Put Payet in the middle. Drop Lanzini or put him out wide.
Tell Kouyate to concentrate on defending, not attacking
That would be a good start.

A shot transfer window has happened. Compare our business with Palace, chalk and cheese. We've replaced Moses, Song and Tomkins with a shower of shit. We were crying out for a right back and an English football suited centre forward and we signed neither. We signed a load of cunts most had never heard of and hoped for the best. This is exactly what we did under Grant, it ended badly, this has the potential to mirror that. Middlesbrough is a must win and it's only October. It's worrying times

There are many problems with the team. One major problem is that we have never played the same back 4 in any of our games. How are we supposed to build an understanding when the personnel keep changing. I know we have had some injuries so it can't always help, but Bilic needs to decide on his best back 4 and stick with them.
All this chopping and changing stinks of desparation.

Bought a load of players who have not lived up to their reputations, whether through lack of confidence or actually being shit, and always having been shit.
Whatever's wrong with them appears to contagious.
